This is an invitation to the TERRAVISION workshop on Wednesday 11th of February 2026 in Seville, Spain. (You may attend in person or online. Address: Hotel Occidental Viapol, Seville, Spain)
The purpose of the workshop is to establish a CoP (Community of Practitioners) to discuss and exchange knowledge. The CoP may constitute organisations affected by or involved in the mining activities, such as local communities, government agencies, industry experts, mining industry, non-governmental organisations, environmental groups, technology developers and scientists.
TERRAVISION – Mining operation and exploration – Fill in form
BACKGROUND
Terravision’s goal is to revolutionise risk monitoring and management in mining operations by developing an integrated system that combines advanced Earth Observation technologies, AIdriven predictive models and interoperable data platforms.
The project addresses critical challenges in operational safety, environmental protection and compliance with Eu standards, thereby contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Critical Raw Material Act. TERRAVISION is validating its solutions through realworld pilots in Spain and other European regions to ensure practical impact and scalability. To foster collaboration and maximise impact, TERRAVISION will organise a Stakeholder engagement and a clustering event in Seville.
- Stakeholders workshop. This will be a dedicated forum to engage regional authorities, mining companies, technology providers, research institutions and civil society. The workshop will focus on operational risk monitoring challenges, regulatory frameworks and opportunities for innovation. This will ensure that stakeholder perspectives shape TERRAVISION’s solutions and strengthen regional benefits.
- Clustering event. This event will bring together European projects, industry actors and regional stakeholders working on sustainable mining, earth observation and critical raw materials (CRMs). The event will promote collaboration, knowledge exchange and joint initiatives that are aligned with EU priorities.
Hosting these activities in Seville gives participants the chance to link strategic discussions on innovation and policy with the practical insights gained from the pilot sites of TERRAVISION, where advanced monitoring technologies and data integration approaches are being tested in real-world settings.
The main objectives of the activities:
- Follow up on previous clustering interactions by reviewing the synergies, gaps and collaboration opportunities that have been identified so far.
- Moving from ideas to action involves defining and prioritising joint initiatives, such as shared datasets, joint policy briefs, coordinated participation in EU events, shared training platforms, and joint pilots or case studies.
- Explore complementarities with other European projects, especially regarding:
- Virtual platforms and digital collaboration tools
- Training, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement
- Data interoperability, visualisation, and digital twins.
- Engage with local and regional stakeholders, including authorities, industry, clusters, academia and citizens, to strengthen the social licence to operate and maximise regional impact.
- Discuss the key challenges and barriers encountered when moving from monitoring to remediation and compliance, in line with the EU Critical Raw Materials Act and regional development strategies.
All the attendants to the event will benefit from:
- Networking opportunities with leading EU projects, industry actors, and policymakers
- Access cutting-edge knowledge on monitoring technologies, AI-based risk assessment and data integration
- Influence future collaboration through joint initiatives and policy recommendations.
- Gain visibility and engage in shaping sustainable mining practices and regional innovation strategies.
- input on needs, hazards, barriers, local geographical conditions, regulations etc.
- reflections upon and validate intermediate results to ensure relevance
- CoP members being agents for support and uptake of results
